Inspired by Nature: The Flea

We are surrounded by so much inspiration in nature, human history and the stories we share. The story of the flea is so inspiring that Beyond the Glass Jar is centred around it.

Have you ever watched or heard of the experiment conducted on fleas? If not, you can watch the video here:
Learning that the offspring of the trained fleas also inherited limiting behaviour can give pause for thought.

We as humans are conditioned everyday through media, movies, our governments, the education system and societal and cultural expectations. So, are we limiting ourselves too?

Did you know that the average flea has the incredible capacity to jump 50 times their body length, 150 times their own height - at an average of 1.9 metres per second AND has the ability to jump 30,000 times in a row? That is the equivalent of you jumping 2.5 American football fields 30,000 times in a row! All that power unrealised in the Glass Jar experiment.

Lets for a moment consider ourselves as the fleas.

We have an education system that teaches us what to think, not how to think.

We have religions, cultures, governments and societies that hold their own expectations - which in turn impact the way we feel or don't feel accepted or understood.

We have the media and movie industry influencing our sense of self in the world too. One only has to look the level of violence on tv and see it's reflection in our current world climate (and road rage.)

We are in a glass jar, and we don't even know how powerful we are.

...or do we?

Please consider this article an invitation to question the status quo in the world and for yourself.

Beyond the Glass Jar's
Ethos #1
 Inspired by Nature: The Flea.
Challenge and stretch ourselves to think beyond what we think we know; understand that possibilities are endless, and we are infinitely powerful.
